I was the one holding the camera.

This is Benedict in NYC. He’s wearing the pin I gave him. None of these voices are mine except for the awkward laugh.

Unseen, Cumberbatch, Moffat and Vertue watch the audience as “A Scandal in Belgravia” begins to roll

“We were standing behind the screen at the beginning, I wonder if you knew it, but it was a cheeky way of just seeing what the reaction would be,” explains Cumberbatch later.

…Oh you clever clever trolls. I sort of expected something like this…but I was thinking more along the lines of them standing to the side somewhere, not RIGHT BEHIND the screen. Haha they probably were shocked at the absolutely SHRILL screaming when Benedict’s face first appeared on screen during the previews at the beginning.

Just got around to watching the PBS Q&A video of Sherlock

Oh my god the screams when Benedict walked out…SO MOTHERFUCKING PROUD, GUYS. I replayed that scream at least 7 times.

We did good. ;n;

Ok it’s shaky but I tried my best. There are some good close ups of Benedict’s expressions…<3

If you guys want more videos, I have them…but they are all about the same low quality. What can I say? I had it super zoomed in and focused on Benny’s face for all of them. My priorities.

I would just like to take this time to share the things I’ve come to realize after meeting Benedict in New York City. If you guys could take the time to read the emotional ramblings of a fan, I would greatly appreciate it.

It’s always disorienting to meet the person you’ve been staring at on your computer screen or tv screen for such a long time. I think that, at some point, the astounding reality of that person loses its grip on you. I know that we all know he’s real and we can probably all imagine ourselves looking at him in person but it’s not the same. To me, he has always been this person on screen who did amazing work and who I admired (and, you know, lusted after) immensely.

Once I really got to see him, one realization hit me very hard: Benedict Cumberbatch is every bit as human as the rest of us.

I’m not saying that I didn’t think he had feelings before, but when you’re standing there in line with hundreds of other fans and you see the very apparent tiredness in his stance and in his face, you really get a special kind of appreciation for everything he does. It touched me especially to know that he would be willing to go to such lengths for us even though all he wanted to do was probably go home and sleep. That he even smiled, laughed, and joked with us is something I will hold dear for a long time.

I wasn’t nervous when meeting him despite having multiple nightmares beforehand because I saw that he was just trying to do his job and do his best for himself and for all of us (just a man but an incredible man, of course). Even though I only got the opportunity to talk to him briefly, his actions all touched me in a manner I wouldn’t have thought possible. He really is very kind and an incredible person.

I don’t think I’ve ever appreciated, and I mean truly truly appreciated, the full extent of the things he do for us until yesterday. It has made me come to love him non-romantically even more as an actor and as a person. There are so many emotions I’m having right now in recalling this and there are so many things I would like to say to him…if there was some way to show him how much I’m grateful to him and not have it come off to him as just empty words, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I would like to conclude this long post by saying that I forgot my coat at the event when I was walking after him to his cab.

It was worth a coat—it was worth many coats—to see the depth of dedication and affection he truly had. For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. All my days of single-minded Benedict tumblr-stalking culminated in that moment of revelation.
